Your questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about selling and borrowing against your luxury assets.

How much can my client borrow?

This depends on the asset and its value. We usually lend up to 75%, depending on the asset, based on its auction or resale value. Auction and resale values are often lower than a retail or insurance valuation, so it helps for your client to have realistic expectations here. Our team will confirm the amount once we have reviewed the details.

How is my client's asset looked after?

We keep your client's asset secure in our highly secure vaults, or at a specialist partner facility, for the length of the loan, returning it as soon as they have repaid. If the asset is already held in a reputable specialist storage facility, we can often keep it there for the duration of the loan. For example, fine art held in a specialist facility may not need to be moved at all to lend against it. If we do need to collect or transport the asset, it is fully insured in transit.

When will I be paid my commission?

We pay commission into your nominated bank account as soon as the loan has completed and the 14 day withdrawal period has ended.

How do I submit a client enquiry?

Share your client's details with our private client team using the short form on our partner enquiry page or email partnerships@suttonsandrobertsons.com. To help us provide an offer quickly, please include:

  • As much detail as possible about the luxury asset
  • Which country your client is based in
  • Where the asset is located
  • How quickly your client needs funding

How do I register as a partner?

Get in touch with our private client team through the short form on our partner registration page or email partnerships@suttonsandrobertsons.com.

How do I know if my client is suitable?

Your client is likely a good fit if they:

  • Own luxury or classic cars, fine art, watches, jewellery, diamonds, fine wine, antiques or gold
  • Own the asset personally or through a private limited company
  • Are happy for us to hold the asset for the length of the loan
  • Have no outstanding finance secured against it
