Valuing Your Watch
Our highly trained specialists carefully assess each watch and take into consideration the brand, model, condition, desirability, age, provenance, quality of craftsmanship and market value to ensure we provide you with the most accurate and up to date valuation loan estimate. The five most important factors are:
BRAND AND MODEL
This is one of the most important factors that drives value. Limited editions of either vintage or modern watches are deemed higher value and attract interest from collectors. Furthermore, certain models of luxury brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe tend to hold their value much better over time than other less prestigious watch brands.
PROVENANCE
If you have the original box, a certificate of sale or any papers that record information about your watch, this adds value. If you have lost or misplaced them, don’t worry, we will still be able to provide you with a loan estimate.
CONDITION
The overall working aesthetic condition can affect the value of a watch. We understand that over time your luxury watch might have some wear and tear, though any significant dents, scratches, repairs, restorations or other damage to the glass or bracelet can impact the value.
MARKET VALUE
We consider any recent information we can locate from auction private sale records to ensure our valuations are accurate.
We also check your watch against lost and stolen registers as part of our due diligence.
AGE
The age of your watch can have a positive or negative impact on value. Contemporary and modern watches tend to have a higher value when they are newer. Vintage watches are valued on their rarity and condition. Read more about our valuation process for watches.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why loan against your watch?
Luxury watches often have sentimental value, collected as an investment piece or bought to remember or celebrate a particular achievement. Luxury watch owners are often reluctant to sell their luxury timepieces and therefore securing funds against their watch can often be the best option when looking to raise short-term finance.
Can I pawn a used watch?
Yes. If you are trying to find out if you can borrow money against the value of your watch, Suttons and Robertsons have been providing a trustworthy pawnbroking service since 1770. We can assist you in raising instant finance using your luxury watch as loan collateral. Don’t worry if you have never used a pawnbroking service before, our customer service team are there to assist you through the process.
Can I pawn my watch online?
Yes. Suttons and Robertsons are an in-store and online pawn shop. If you want to transact with us from home, rather than coming into one of our stores, you can apply online and use our secure home collection service. If you use our home collection service and decide you don’t want to accept our loan offer, we will arrange for your item(s) to be returned to you free of charge. Alternatively, you are welcome to collect your item(s) in-store.
How much can I pawn my watch for?
We offer loans from £500 up to £2 million. Suttons and Robertsons can lend up to 60% of the value of your luxury watch. This means that if you are pawning a Rolex watch valued at £8,000, we could lend you a maximum of £4,800 (60% of the value). We always aim to provide our clients with the maximum loan amount though the amount depends on many factors, including the brand model, condition, age, provenance and market value.
