Advance

Do you have an example of a sale advance loan?

A collector owns a blue chip artwork. We approached five auction houses on their behalf, with valuations ranging from £350,000 to £500,000 and sale timings of around six to eleven months. The client chose to sell in the UK in six months, at a valuation of £450,000. They received an immediate advance of 50%, so £225,000, then a further £137,250 once it sold, taking the total to £362,250. Selling directly, the client would have returned around £382,500 but would have waited over six months for payment.

What luxury assets are accepted for sale advance?

We accept blue chip luxury assets across these categories for sale advance loans, with a minimum value of £50,000.

What happens if my item sells for more than expected?

You benefit from the higher price. Whatever it sells for, you receive the full amount, less the advance we have already paid you and our sales commission.

What is the difference between your loan and sale options?

A pawnbroking loan suits someone who wants to raise money against a luxury asset temporarily while keeping ownership. A sale advance suits someone who has decided to sell an asset better suited to a sales channel such as an auction house, like fine art, but wants immediate funding ahead of the sale. An outright sale suits someone who wants to sell their item and receive payment straight away, which is not available on certain assets such as fine art and classic cars.

How quickly can I receive the advance?

It usually takes two to three working days to outline the best sales channel and approach the right consignment partners for preliminary estimates. It is not as quick as our other services, which often offer same day payment, as we take the time to find the best route for your item.

What happens if my item does not sell?

If your item does not sell at the chosen channel and reserve price, we will discuss the options with you. These may include adjusting the reserve or trying an alternative sales channel.
